[ARCHIVED] Lafazan and County Executive Laura Curran to Announce “Home Run Derby”

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) will join Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and friends of Syosset’s Jason Witler to announce details about an upcoming memorial “Home Run Derby” baseball tournament fundraiser in support of North Shore Child and Family Guidance.

Jason Witler, who passed away from an overdose in April 2021, was known for his signature smile and a lifelong love of baseball that started during his time as a Syosset Little League player. Following his untimely death, Jason’s friends partnered with Legislator Lafazan, a fellow Syosset graduate, to organize a philanthropic tribute to a beloved community member who was known for his kindness and gregarious presence.

WHO: Legislator Lafazan is scheduled to be joined by Jason Witler’s friends; Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Andy Malekoff, CEO, North Shore Child and Family Guidance; Merchant Marine Academy baseball coach and event sponsor Lou Bernadi; and Jason’s childhood friend Jordan Slavin.
