(GREAT NECK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) had the pleasure of joining the leaders and members of the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company for their annual dinner dance at the Village Club of Lake Success on June 10, 2021. During the dinner, Legislator Birnbaum presented Outgoing Chief Joshua Charry (pictured, above) with two Nassau County Legislature Citations – one to acknowledge his service as the Outgoing Chief and one to recognize his efforts during what the fire company designated as the Ambulance Call of the Year. Other members of the company were recognized for achievements including length of service milestones and their work during notable responses.
“Whether by rushing to the scene of a fire in the middle of the night or stepping up time and again during the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteer firefighters routinely place themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “It was truly a pleasure to join Chief Justin Sachmechi and each of the leaders and volunteers from the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company to recognize them for always going above and beyond in service to our community.”
