MULLANEY HONORS LEGISLATOR DENISE FORD FOR WOMENS HISTORY MONTH

Mineola, NY – On March 25th, Legislator Patrick Mullaney and the Nassau County Legislature held its annual Women’s History Month event. This year, the Majority Caucus of the Legislature honored longtime former Legislator Denise Ford as it’s Woman of Distinction.

Ford served for 20 years as the Legislator for the 4th District, which is centered around the city of Long Beach, and included Island Park, Lido Beach, Atlantic Beach, Point Lookout and parts of Oceanside, East Rockaway, Bay Park, and the Five Towns. After her retirement at the end of 2023, she was replaced in the Legislature by Legislator Patrick Mullaney.

Legislator Ford, who lives in Long Beach, is a long-time public servant, working for the telephone company before joining the Legislature. Her husband, Harry Ford, was one of the three New York City Firefighters who tragically lost their lives during the Father’s Day fire in Queens on June 17th, 2001.

“Legislator Ford has been a tireless fighter for her constituents and was never afraid to speak her mind or make her voice heard,” Legislator Mullaney said. “I learned everything about being a Legislator from her, and I could only hope I will be half the person she is.”
