[ARCHIVED] 12/10/14 - Long Beach Man Indicted for Fatal Shooting Near Public Housing Project

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced the arraignment today of a Long Beach man on a grand jury indictment in connection with a fatal shooting at Long Beach’s Channel Park Homes in September.

Antonio Webb was arraigned today before Nassau County Court Judge Teresa Corrigan on the following grand jury charges:

• Murder in the 2nd Degree (an A felony)
• Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (a C violent felony)

Judge Corrigan set bail at $1 million cash or bond. If convicted of the top charge, Webb faces 25 years to life in prison. He is due back in court on Jan. 20, 2015.

“Everyone in Nassau County has a right to live, go to work and raise a family without the threat of gun violence,” DA Rice said. “The Channel Park community and local law enforcement united in action when this tragic murder happened and we will continue to fight to secure justice.”

DA Rice said that on Sept. 27 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Webb shot a 28-year-old man at the Channel Park Homes near 5 Birch Court in Long Beach. The victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Webb was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department on Oct. 1.

Assistant District Attorney Martin Meaney of DA Rice’s Major Offense Bureau is prosecuting the case. Webb is represented by Jeff Groder, Esq.

The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
