I am proud of the economic growth here in Nassau County. When Grumman left Bethpage, it created a challenge of: How to replace one of the largest employers in Nassau? Thanks to dedication and vision, the Grumman property has grown from a single-employer venue dependent on defense contracts, to 600 acres of diverse business. This includes a state-of-the-art Homeland Security center, housing opportunities, and a rapidly growing film industry. Between 2013 and 2014, the film industry in Nassau generated $533 million in economic benefit for the County, produced more than $1.6 million in sales tax revenue, and created 1,773 jobs. I applaud the hard work of the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency and the Nassau Office of Economic Development for their success and shall work with both agencies to continue attracting businesses and jobs to Nassau County.
