Bryan Jennings sold heroin that was linked to two fatal overdoses in Nassau County
MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a Valley Stream man was sentenced yesterday for his role in selling heroin laced with fentanyl that was linked to more than half a dozen overdoses in Nassau County. Two of those overdoses were fatal.
Bryan Jennings, 35, pleaded guilty before Court of Claims Judge Alan Honorof on April 4 to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (a B felony) and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (a B felony). He was sentenced yesterday to nine years in prison and three years of post-release supervision.
“This defendant poisoned our communities by selling heroin and narcotics, preying on addicts to benefit himself,” DA Singas said. “Thanks to the great police work and to our prosecutors this defendant will be off the street for many years to come.”
DA Singas said beginning in September of 2015, the NCPD Narcotics Vice Bureau began investigating Jennings for selling heroin in Nassau County. During the course of the investigation the defendant sold heroin and heroin laced with fentanyl, that was linked to more than half a dozen overdoses in Nassau County, two of which were fatal.
He was subsequently arrested by the NCPD Narcotics Vice Bureau in August 2016 for those crimes. At the time of the arrest, Jennings also admitted to selling heroin to a fatal overdose victim in June 2016. He was later indicted by a grand jury for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and other charges. In that case, Jennings posted bail and was released from jail.
Following his release, NCPD detectives and the NCDA continued to investigate him and on December 5, 2016, obtained a search warrant for his residence. At that time, more than 30 grams of heroin laced with fentanyl and 20 grams of cocaine, also laced with fentanyl, were recovered, along with scales, packaging material and approximately $1,000 in small bills. The defendant was arrested and remanded at that point.
