Monday, August 27, 2018 -- Today the Governor signed an Executive Order reinstating New York City’s School Safety Program, which tracks vehicle speeds with speed cameras near New York City schools. Legislation for the program once included Nassau County, but we are not included in the Executive Order.
If you believe that traffic safety in your school district would be enhanced by speed cameras near your local schools, please contact your local legislators, school district and Parent Teacher Association. As County Executive, I support an opt-in program by school districts for speed cameras near our local schools to enhance safety for all our students and school personnel.
