[ARCHIVED] Legislator Joshua Lafazan is Looking for Seniors Who Need Assistance Getting Essential Items

WHAT: WHAT: In an effort to help local senior citizens, Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) has enlisted young volunteers to help seniors get the groceries and medication they need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Legislator Lafazan is looking for seniors in the community who are in need at this time and urges seniors in need to call his office at 516-571-6218 and sign up for this service.

The coronavirus has had a significant impact on seniors across the country because they are more likely to have underlying health conditions that make them more vulnerable to the illness.

To prevent seniors from becoming exposed to the virus, it is recommended that they stay home as much as possible, keep a distance of at least 6ft, wash hands often, cough into your elbow cuff, and continuously wipe down any shared surfaces with others in the home. Senior citizens, ages 65 and up, are urged to call Legislator Lafazan’s office to connect with volunteers who are willing to shop for essentials they may need during this pandemic.

For assistance or to volunteer, please call Legislator Lafazan’s office at 516-571-6218 or via email rthomas@nassaucountyny.gov.
