(SYOSSET, N.Y.) – To give thanks to healthcare workers for their ongoing response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury), in partnership with Robert Glick, managing partner at the Brand Glick & Brand Firm, and Mister Softee Ice Cream, Inc., provided free ice cream to healthcare workers at Syosset Hospital on Thursday, May 14.

“Healthcare workers are facing a crisis like they’ve never seen before. As a community, we wanted to show our admiration for the work they are doing every day to combat the coronavirus pandemic,” Legislator Lafazan said. "This is just one way we could express our appreciation and gratitude for these everyday heroes”.

The Mister Softee truck serving sweet, delicious treats to doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and other essential hospital staff was sponsored by Robert Glick.  “It takes so little to thank those that sacrifice themselves and work so hard and so tirelessly every day to help others in this time of need,” Glick said. “Providing ice cream to the healthcare workers at Syosset Hospital is the least we could do to show our appreciation. Just like we thank our military personnel for their service, we should likewise thank our healthcare providers for all they do.”

Spencer Weinstein, a Syosset graduate and Mister Softee truck owner said, “being the local Mister Softee operator is a privilege, getting to see the happy faces of all the beautiful people in our community.” “It was a privilege give back to the people who are fighting to bring this world back to normalcy. I couldn’t see it directly, but I know those Nurses and Doctors at Syosset Hospital were smiling under their masks!"

Syosset resident, Donna Schlessinger, who donated T-shirts bearing the slogan #NYTough, said, “I’ve been humbled by the extraordinary bravery of all of our healthcare heroes during this crisis. Their spirit is inspiring and I’m happy to show my gratitude in any small way - they are the epitome of what it means to be NY Tough!”
