Curran Announces New COVID-19 Testing Facility in Long Beach in Partnership with Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital

Both viral and antibody testing will be available by appointment beginning Tuesday, June 23

Long Beach, NY - Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced today a new COVID-19 testing site in Long Beach in partnership with Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. The hospital will conduct both viral and antibody testing at the Mount Sinai South Nassau Center for Primary Care in Long Beach beginning Tuesday, June 23.

“Testing remains key in our COVID-19 recovery efforts. Nassau is proud to partner with Mount Sinai South Nassau to offer both viral and antibody COVID-19 testing Long Beach residents and I thank Senator Kaminsky for his partnership and advocacy on this issue. Providing local testing in high risk communities helps us to quickly identify and isolate cases and stop the transmission of the virus in its tracks. It’s simple, the more residents we test, the more we can contain the spread of the virus to safely and promptly reopen Nassau,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran

Long Beach had over 750 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and is considered a high-risk area for spread because of factors such as a dense housing with many multi-unit dwellings and tourists visiting the area during the summer season. Providing testing in high risk communities is part of Nassau’s strategy to contain the spread of COVID-19. Both viral and antibody testing will be conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call (516) 544-2351.

“Testing needs to be available to people of all income levels and demographics to ensure equity throughout our communities,” Senator Kaminsky said. “By increasing access, we can continue to bend the curve and have a successful reopening because the more people we test, the safer we’ll be. I am happy to work with County Executive Curran and Mount Sinai South Nassau to establish this site enabling more barrier island residents get back to work and stay healthy.”

“COVID viral testing and antibody testing are two important tools in our continued effort to combat the virus. We are pleased to be able to offer both tests now on the barrier island through this partnership with Nassau County,” said Richard J. Murphy, President & CEO of Mount Sinai South Nassau. “Our Primary Care center in Long Beach already offers comprehensive care for the entire family from physicals and wellness visits to screening for asthma and other conditions, so this is a natural extension of the services we already provide to residents of the barrier island. We thank Nassau County Executive Laura Curran for her leadership and efforts throughout the COVID pandemic to protect public health.”

The Mount Sinai South Nassau Center for Primary Care at Long Beach is located at 761 Franklin Boulevard in Long Beach.
