Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy and County Executive Bruce Blakeman are joining with the Nassau County Police Department, YES Community Counseling Center, and the Massapequa Takes Action Coalition to sponsor a “Shed the Meds” event in Massapequa. This event will allow residents to safely dispose of unused, unwanted and expired medications. Simply drive up, drop off, and drive away.
Keep medications in original containers and block out your name
for anonymity. Do not cross out medication information on label.
ACCEPTED ITEMS INCLUDE: Prescription medications, prescription patches, over the counter medications, vitamins, sample medications and medications for pets. Illegal narcotics may also be dropped off anonymously, no questions asked. Syringes and sharps will be collected.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED INCLUDE: liquid medications.
