During a recent meeting of the Nassau County Legislature, Nassau County Police Officer and New Hyde Park resident, Officer Richard Papa of the Second Precinct, was honored as this month’s “Top Cop” by County Legislature

Officer Papa was recognized for his heroic actions during a February 2017 incident in Syosset. While Officer Papa was interviewing an assault victim, the assailant began to wrestle and reach for another officer’s weapon. Officer Papa quickly reacted to the unfolding events and used his Taser to subdue the assailant, diffusing a potentially deadly situation.

Deputy Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello thanked Officer Papa for his actions and for his work and the work of all of the men and women of Nassau County Police Department in keeping our communities safe.
