[ARCHIVED] PRESIDING OFFICER NICOLELLO ANNOUNCES INCREASE OF COLD WAR VETERANS EXEMPTION

Cold-War-Veterans

Nassau County Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello announced that the Nassau County Legislature has reauthorized the Cold War Veterans Exemption and increased the maximum exemption amount that will be available to veterans. The exemption, which had previously only applied for ten years, will now apply for as long as the veteran remains a qualified owner of the property.

“Our veterans bravely served this country when called upon, and we owe them an unpayable debt,” said Presiding Officer Nicolello. “I’m very proud to not only increase the eligible amount for this exemption, but to extend the duration of the exemption as well.”

Please note that a property is entitled to receive one veterans exemption at a time. To determine whether a veteran’s service qualifies for the Cold War exemption, please contact the Nassau County Department of Assessment at (516) 571-1500.
