PRESIDING OFFICER NICOLELLO AND NASSAU LEGISLATURE CELEBRATE ITALIAN HERITAGE AND CULTURE MONTH

Presiding Officer Richard J. Nicolello and the Nassau County Legislature recently celebrated the 42nd annual Italian Heritage and Culture Month with leaders of the region’s most prominent Italian-American organizations. Joseph Sciame presented the Legislature with a poster in recognition of the achievements of Italian-American women. Mr. Sciame is Past National President of the Order Sons of Italy in America and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Italian Heritage and Culture Committee of New York Inc (IHCC-NY).

The 2018 celebration theme for the 42nd Anniversary is “A Salute to Italian Women in America: Breaking Barriers…from Ellis Island to the Present”. The theme is a tribute to all women of Italian heritage, from the first Italian female immigrants, who, despite all obstacles, arrived, and thrived in America, while maintaining their family, faith, and tradition values to the women of today in celebration of all of their accomplishments.
