In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Nassau County Legislature recently held their 21st Annual “Women of Distinction” Ceremony. Joanne Monez was recognized as Legislator James Kennedy’s 2019 honoree for her extraordinary efforts and commitment to animal welfare.

As the founder of “All About Spay Neuter” rescue and adoption center located in Massapequa, Joanne and her team of volunteers, work tirelessly utilizing the TNR (trap, neuter and return) program to humanely reduce the feral cat population on Long Island, all while educating the public on the plight of the homeless cat situation and the importance of sterilization and vaccination.

Every cat and kitten taken into the center receives medical care and friendly adult strays, along with feral kittens that have been socialized, are placed for adoption.

“It was a pleasure to present this award to Joanne for the positive impact she has had on the health and well-being of animals in need.” stated Legislator Kennedy.
