WELCOME TO THE
ASSESSMENT REVIEW COMMISSION (“ARC”) WEBSITE
Welcome to the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission ("ARC") website. We hope you find the information on our site both informative and useful. Before explaining our mission at ARC we would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about our department.
ARC is an independent agency, separate from the Nassau County Department of Assessment. We are responsible for annually reviewing all applications for correction of assessment filed in Nassau County. Our professional and dedicated staff have, on average, 20 years experience appraising both residential and commercial properties.
Our mission at ARC is to review the valuation set by the Department of Assessment and to reduce the assessment if the valuation is excessive. These corrections have resulted in substantial savings to you, the taxpayer.
We encourage you to look at our website which has the most up-to-date and accurate information on taxes, assessments and filing appeals. In fact, we are proud to say that ARC is the only administrative review commission in New York State that enables you to file an appeal directly through a website.
Our
on-line appeal system is called AROW – Assessment Review On
the Web. Through AROW you
can do an automated search of recent sales in your
area to determine if your home is overvalued. This
sales search feature is available to you year round,
24 hours a day, seven days a week. If, after your
search of recent sales, you find the value of your
property is excessive we would encourage you to
file an application for correction of assessment.
The next opportunity to file an appeal will be
after the Department of Assessment sets its next
tentative assessment roll on January 2, 2013.
Your time to file an appeal based on that tentative
assessment for this year will be between January 2, 2013 - March 1, 2013, however
due to super storm Sandy, there is an Executive
Order extending that time period to May 1, 2013. (Click this Link to view the press release)
Thank
you for your time and it is our sincere hope that
you will take advantage of AROW and all the information
our website has to offer. The staff at ARC prides
itself on providing courteous and prompt service.
Please feel free to contact us by phone at (516)571-3214 or by email at ARC@nassaucountyny.gov with
any questions or concerns you have regarding your
assessment.
Sincerely,
The Assessment Review Commission |
