Nassau County Announces Second Annual Pistol Competition

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announces that the Nassau County Executive Pistol Competition will be held at the Nassau County Rifle and Pistol Range on September 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be three contests involving either rim fire, center fire or revolver with a maximum of 25 participants in each match and competition on an individual basis (as opposed to a team approach). The contests will involve five courses of fire, with step one being 10 rounds in three minutes; then ending with step five, 5 rounds moving in 30 seconds. Five contestants will compete at the same time in each range. The competition will be “iron-sights” with no scopes or optics allowed.

“This competition, which we hope to expand over time, provides the public, local sportsmen and law enforcement personnel with the opportunity to test their skills in one of the county’s premier shooting facilities,” says County Executive Ed Mangano.

To be eligible, contestants must have a valid pistol permit and pay a $25 fee. For an application, call or visit the Nassau County Rifle and Pistol Range. Participation will be first-come, first-serve to a maximum of 25 people in each contest. The range will provide the targets. For more information, call (516) 572-0420.
