Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello, Alternate Deputy Presiding Officer Denise Ford, Legislator John Giuffré, Legislator James Kennedy and Legislator Tom McKevitt joined with Randi Shubin Dresner, President and CEO of Island Harvest, for a Nassau County Legislature Volunteer Day at Island Harvest’s warehouse in Melville. The legislators helped pack food boxes at the warehouse, which will be delivered to communities in need across Long Island.

“Many families on Long Island are struggling with having the resources to put enough food on the table,” Presiding Officer Nicolello said. “Island Harvest and food bank organizations do great work to help these families, and I, and my fellow legislators, are more than happy to help them out and help the residents of Nassau County.”

Island Harvest has become a leading hunger-relief organization on Long Island, delivering millions of pounds of nutritious food – much of which might otherwise go to waste – to a network of more than 400 Long Island-based food pantries, soup kitchens and other non-profit organizations that offer feeding services for those in need.
