[ARCHIVED] LEGISLATOR KENNEDY HONORS TOP COPS FOR FEBRUARY

LEGISLATOR KENNEDY HONORS TOP COPS FOR FEBRUARY

Legislator James Kennedy joined with the Nassau County Legislature to honor 3rd Precinct Nassau County Police Officers, Patrick Castel and Michael Chiappone.

On August 30th, 2021, Officers Castel and Chiappone responded to a call at an apartment complex in Floral Park.  There they observed a five-year-old child, hanging approximately 25 feet in the air from a second story window and struggling to hold on.  Officer Castel attempted to instruct the child on how to get back inside the open window, howeverthe girl stated she “wanted to come to the ground.” Officer Castel remained below the child to catch her if she fell, while Officer Chiappone ran inside the building, kicked-down the apartment door and pulled her to safety.  It was determined that this child had been left alone for 3 hours.  Her mother was later located and arrested, and the child was placed into the custody of her uncle.

“Our brave men and women of the NCPD put their lives on the line each and every day to keep us safe and to save lives,” Legislator Kennedy said. “Thank you to Officers Castel and Chiappone for coming to the rescue of this child and for all you do to protect and serve the public.”
