[ARCHIVED] COUNTY ASSESSOR ASKS TOWN RECEIVERS OF TAXES TO FURTHER DELAY

Mineola, NY - In a conference call late last week, Nassau County Assessor David Moog urged Town Receivers of Taxes to delay sending thousands of 2020-2021 School Tax Bills because of the backup of SCAR petitions yet to be adjudicated.

Aside from the normal period that is granted to assemble an accurate tax roll, the Governor granted Nassau’s Administration an extra month to produce an accurate roll, pushing off the tax collection date from November 10th to December 10th.

“It is inappropriate for the County Assessor to advocate for delaying thousands of the fall tax bills. As residents continue to struggle with the financial burden brought on by the COVID pandemic, they deserve to know on time how much they are paying in taxes” Said Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello. “I want to thank the Town Receivers for standing up for our residents, and fighting for a fair, accurate, and on time tax bill.”
