SDVOB PROGRAM

Title 82 of the Miscellaneous Laws of Nassau County created the local law to promote more meaningful participation in public procurement by Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOBs), thereby further integrating such businesses into Nassau's economy and enabling them to realize the American dream they fought to protect.

Key Objectives of the Law

The objective of Title 82 is to expand opportunities for SDVOBs, primarily through increased participation in County contracting and procurement.

  • To encourage and assist County agencies that are engaged in contracting activities
  • To award a share of County contracts to SDVOBs.
  • To maintain a directory of NYS Certified SDVOBs.
  • To promote the business development of SDVOBs through education and outreach to agencies, non-profit organizations, independent contractors, and SDVOBs.
  • To collect, review, monitor, and report on data pertaining to the utilization of SDVOBs by County agencies.
  • To ensure continued progress toward the county aspirational goal of 6% established by the local law
