[ARCHIVED] Beaches Closed to Bathing

Mineola, NY - Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following beaches to bathing as a precautionary measure, effective today, July 28, 2014. Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels and affecting bathing water quality.

3 South Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Island Park Beach
Merrick Estates Civic Association

In addition, Biltmore and Philip Healey Beaches in Massapequa remain closed to bathing due to elevated levels of bacteria.
