Health Officials Warn of Potential Measles Exposure in Nassau County Restaurant

Roslyn Heights, NY – The Nassau County Department of Health (NCDOH) is issuing notification of a laboratory verified measles case in a resident of New York City with potential exposures in a Nassau County restaurant. NCDOH, in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH) are investigating the exposures and are taking the necessary proactive steps to prevent the spread of measles.

It has been determined there was potential exposure to measles for the public and persons who visited the following location  on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 7:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.:

388 Italian Restaurant 388 Willis Ave, Roslyn Heights, NY 11577.

These times reflect the potential exposure period when the infected individual was in the identified areas.

To help prevent the spread of illness, NCDOH is advising individuals who may have been exposed and who have symptoms consistent with measles to contact their health care provider, local clinic, or emergency department before going for care. Calling ahead allows the facility to take appropriate steps to protect other patients, staff, and visitors from being exposed to the illness.

The single best way to prevent measles is to be vaccinated. Individuals should receive two doses of MMR vaccine to be protected. Vaccines, like any medicine, can have side effects. These are usually mild and go away on their own. The MMR vaccine is  safe.

Individuals are generally considered protected against measles if they were born before 1957, have received two doses of MMR vaccine, have previously had measles, or have a lab test confirming immunity. Individuals who are unsure whether they are protected should contact their health care provider.
