[ARCHIVED] Beaches Closed to Bathing

Mineola, NY - Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 16 beaches to bathing as a precautionary measure, effective today, July 15, 2014. Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels and affecting bathing water quality.

13 North Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Centre Island Sound
Creek Club
Lattingtown Beach
Laurel Hollow Beach
North Hempstead Beach Park
Piping Rock Beach Club
Pryibil Beach
Ransom Beach
Sea Cliff Village Beach
Soundside Beach
Stehli Beach
Tappen Beach
Theodore Roosevelt Beach

and

3 South Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Hewlett Point Beach
Island Park Beach
Merrick Estates Civic Association

In addition, Biltmore and Philip Healey Beaches in Massapequa and Morgan Beach in Glen Cove remain closed to bathing due to elevated levels of bacteria.
