[ARCHIVED] Nassau County Department of Health Issues Advisory Against Bathing at Five North Shore Beaches

Mineola, NY – Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health is issuing an advisory against bathing at five beaches, effective today, May 31, 2019. This advisory is issued as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall. Stormwater runoff can impact bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels, which may cause exceedances of the New York State standard for bathing water quality.


*5 North Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Creek Club – Lattingtown

Lattingtown Beach – Lattingtown

Laurel Hollow Beach – Laurel Hollow

North Hempstead Beach Park – Port Washington

Piping Rock Beach Club – Locust Valley
