[ARCHIVED] Beaches Closed to Bathing

Mineola, NY - Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 18 beaches to bathing as a precautionary measure, effective today, August 13, 2014. Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels and affecting bathing water quality.

14 North Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Centre Island Sound
Creek Club Lattingtown Beach
Laurel Hollow BeachMorgan Beach
North Hempstead Beach ParkPiping Rock Beach Club
Pryibil BeachRansom Beach
Sea Cliff Village BeachSoundside Beach
Stehli BeachTappen Beach
Theodore Roosevelt Beach

4 South Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Biltmore Beach Club

Hewlett Point Beach

Island Park Beach

Merrick Estates Civic Association

In addition, Philip Healey Beach in Massapequa remains closed to bathing due to elevated levels of bacteria.
