Nassau County Taxi and Limousine Commission

About TLC

The Nassau County Taxi & Limousine Commission (NCTLC) was established to regulate the registration of taxicabs and limousines operating in Nassau County. This authority empowers the Commission to take action enforcing the registration requirement across the for-hire vehicle industry as well as the Rules & Regulations necessary to ensure a fair, safe and pleasant riding experience for all passengers.

The Commission is comprised of the Department as well as the Taxi & Limousine Board. The Department is responsible for the administration of the Rules & Regulations governing the for-hire vehicle industry. This responsibility includes handling concerns and complaints from the riding public regarding the for-hire vehicle industry. The Department is led by the Commissioner, and staff includes both ordinance personnel and Investigators who are members of the CSEA.

The Board is responsible for recommending Rules & Regulations to be adopted and enforced by the Commissioner. The Board is composed of nine members, appointed by the County Executive, including: one appointed on the recommendation of the Long Island Taxi Transportation Operators' Association; two appointed on the recommendation of the Presiding Officer of the County Legislature; and two appointed on the recommendation of the Minority Leader of the County Legislature. The Board meets regularly and is actively engaged in soliciting input from the industry and riding public who wish to improve taxi, limousine, and other for-hire vehicle safety and service in Nassau County.
