On December 13, 2017, as part of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Award, Nassau County was awarded $2 million to plan, design and construct sewer infrastructure for Point Lookout to connect to the existing wastewater treatment plant in Long Beach. In May 2018, the Nassau County Legislature approved $1 million be used for a sewering feasibility study. The project is currently in the feasibility study procurement stage.
