Legislator Drucker Celebrates LGBTQ+ Community at L.I. Pride

Drucker 023 Pride

(HUNTINGTON, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) celebrated Pride at the 33rd annual Long Island Pride parade and festival in Huntington village on Sunday, June 11, where thousands of revelers lined Main Street for a parade and celebrated the LGBTQ+ community during a festival in Heckscher Park.

Legislator Drucker has been a staunch and steady advocate for the LGBTQ+ community throughout his tenure. He continues to fight for amendments to ensure that Nassau County’s Human Rights Law explicitly protects transgender, non-binary and gender-fluid individuals from discrimination; and last year filed legislation that would convene stakeholders and experts on an LGBTQ+ Advisory Board that would investigate specific challenges facing the community faces here in Nassau and devise and implement solutions.

“At such a pivotal time for the LGBTQ+ community in America, it is especially important to commemorate the origins of Pride, which date back to the Stonewall uprising that began on June 28, 1969,” Legislator Drucker said. “Today and every day, I stand with the LGBTQ+ community as an ally and proudly reaffirm my commitment to the fight for equality. Thank you to David Kilmnick and everyone at the LGBT Network for your ongoing leadership and tireless advocacy in pursuit of liberty, justice and equality for every American. “
