Deputy Minority Leader Drucker Applauds Passage of Home Rule Message

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – On Monday, May 20, the Nassau County Legislature unanimously adopted a home rule message requesting for the New York State Legislature and the Governor to approve legislation that would extend by 25 years a program that provides real property tax exemptions for income-restricted, 55-and-over community senior housing developments in Nassau County.

Following today’s action, Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) issued the following statement:

“Within the 16th Legislative District alone, no fewer than three senior communities and the hundreds of residents who reside there would have faced devastating tax increases if this property tax exemption was allowed to lapse,” said Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) said. “Thankfully, it appears that we are now on track to extend this vital program for another 25 years, and Nassau’s home rule message is an important part of that process. I thank our partners in Albany for their leadership and applaud Nassau Legislature Deputy Presiding Officer Tom McKevitt for his advocacy and expertise on the local level.”
