Adult Fitness Classes

One-Hour Classes

Boot Camp & Extreme Conditioning: A total-body, military-style program that includes a circuit of drills ranging from jumping jacks and running to push-ups, squats, and crunches. A challenging workout within a quick hour. Intermediate fitness is recommended.
Fit & Fabulous Seniors: This course is designed to improve range of motion and balance and tone your entire body from head to toe. Class involves exercises while sitting in a chair and using the chair for balance while performing standing exercises.

Lifestyle Classes

Beginning Running: A program for those who want to begin a running regimen, but don't know how to start. Participants transition from walking to running through interval training over the twice-per-week, 10-week program. Learn proper running form and technique; how to stretch major muscle groups; and how to incorporate injury-preventing strength-training exercises to round out your fitness program. The goal of the class is to prepare participants to run and complete a 5K race.
Healthy Back: This class is aimed at decreasing back pain by strengthening the abdominal and back muscles (improving core strength) and improving flexibility in key muscle groups that directly affect back health. Education is a key component of this class, teaching you injury-prevention techniques.
Pilates: This course involves gentle basic floor mat exercises designed to improve strengthening in your abs and lower back (your core) while toning, lengthening your all over body. (Attendees must bring their own mats.)
Spinning: A cardiovascular group cycling program performed on a stationary spin bike with expert coaching, inspirational music, and a mind-body philosophy. Incorporates heart-rate training, visualization, great music, and plenty of motivation. Burn calories fast in this class, which is adaptable to all fitness levels.
Weight Room Fundamentals: This course offers beginner through advanced participants the opportunity to work with a personal trainer to customize their workout and learn proper weight training techniques in a comfortable environment.
Tai Chi: This class helps to connect the mind and body and promote serenity through gentle movements. Tai Chi consists of gentle physical exercise and stretching through a series of flowing postures and poses, with an emphasis on technique over strength. The class is held outdoors in the park.
Yoga: Looking for a gentle class to reduce tension? Learn breath and body awareness, optimal posture, and body mechanics. Focus on correct positioning of 54 basic yoga postures to strengthen lower back, abdominal muscles, legs, and upper body. Students experience the meditative benefits of yoga through linking of breath with movement. This class promotes balance, flexibility, and stress reduction.

Fitness Assessments

Do you have fitness or weight loss goals? If so, the Aquatic Center can help you achieve them, and provide measurable results so you can assess your progress. Our fitness evaluation will help determine your current fitness level and customize an exercise program to help you achieve your goals. Your assessment includes a health screening, testing of body composition, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance, as well as circumference measurements, postural analysis, and a cardio-respiratory fitness test. A certified trainer will develop a customized exercise program for you based on your goals and the assessment results.
