Maurice Chalmers

Maurice Chalmers became the Director of the Independent Office of Legislative Budget Review in January 2012, after joining the Office in February of 2010 as the Deputy Director. He brings over 14 years of Financial Analysis experience. In his position, he is responsible for the oversight and analysis of the County Budget, providing information and analysis to County Legislators as well as evaluating the fiscal impact of County legislation. His experience includes five years in the County's Office of Management and Budget, where he managed 12 Public Safety departments including Police, Corrections, Office of Emergency Management, Fire Commission, and District Attorney, with a combined budget of $821 million.

Prior to joining the County, he worked at United Parcel Service (UPS) for 14 years and gained strong operational and accounting experience. His main responsibilities included the development of budgets for his District units which included analysis of labor and employee benefits, costs and occupancy analysis, monthly closings, financial statement reporting, and oversight of the District's profitability and implementation of cost containment initiatives. He graduated from Queens College with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minor in Economics in 1995 and is pursuing an MBA in Federal Taxation at CW Post.
