Swimming in the Wake of Champions

Built in 1998 for the International Goodwill Games, the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park is widely recognized as one of the finest swimming facilities in the U.S. It regularly hosts major swimming and diving competitions, as well as local high school events and swim clubs, and over the years, dozens of U.S. and world swimming records have been set at the Aquatic Center. But the facility also hosts thousands of Nassau County residents of all ages, who make the pool and Health Club part of their regular exercise regimen.

Amenities

The 80,000-square-foot center includes a "stretch" 50-meter pool that is 68 meters long, with three movable bulkheads. The pool setup varies from day to day, with 50-meter, 25-yard, and/or 25-meter lap lanes, depending on the pool setup. There is a diving well with a 10-meter competition diving tower — the only such tower in the New York metropolitan area — and 1- and 3-meter springboards.

The pool also includes a shallow section that is available for recreational or free swimming and is perfect for water exercise, therapeutic swimming, and/or "water walking."

Health Club

The Aquatic Center features a renovated Health Club (membership required) overlooking the pool that includes a wide array of professional fitness and exercise equipment, including treadmills, arc trainers, stationary bikes, stair machines, free weights, and an assortment of Cybex weight machines.
