(LYNBROOK and VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream), ranking member of the Legislature’s Towns, Villages & Cities committee, applauded Governor Kathy Hochul’s delivery of significant aid to the Incorporated Villages of Lynbrook and Valley Stream through the State’s FY 2027 Temporary Municipal Assistance (TMA) program.
Under the formula released on Thursday, Feb. 19, Valley Stream will receive a $117,177 grant, and Lynbrook will receive $50,001. These local grants are part of a $150 million statewide program that seeks to ease cost burdens faced by cities, towns, and villages as they continue to provide exceptional services and preserve quality of life.
“Through the Temporary Municipal Assistance initiative, Governor Hochul has again demonstrated her commitment to equipping villages like Valley Stream and Lynbrook with the resources they need to preserve essential services without increasing costs to local taxpayers,” Legislator Nuñez said. “As the ranking member of the Legislature’s Towns, Villages and Cities committee, I see firsthand how the nationwide cost of living crisis has hit local municipalities and our taxpayers especially hard, and I thank the Governor for delivering important relief for District 14 communities.”
