(ELMONT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream) partnered with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, community leaders, and government colleagues to celebrate National Night Out at St. Boniface Church in Elmont on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities on the first Tuesday in August to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing them together with residents in a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere.
Spearheaded by the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, the event was supported by an array of community organizations and sponsors, creating a street fair atmosphere across from St. Boniface Church that was replete with giveaways, snacks, activities, and demonstrations for all ages. Fellow Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) was among the government partners supporting the event.
“Events like National Night Out showcase the incredible community spirit that makes Elmont, Valley Stream, and Lynbrook such special places to call home,” Legislator Nuñez said. “Thank you to the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct for organizing such a fantastic event and for your continued commitment to fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities you serve. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success, including the Lynbrook Police Department for participating in Elmont’s National Night Out for the first time.
