(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) and Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream) partnered with the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR), the State of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA) and the Long Island Housing Partnership to host a workshop for first-time homebuyers at Valley Stream’s Gateway Christian Center on Thursday, March 12.

Dozens of prospective homebuyers learned how they may qualify to receive significant financial assistance toward the purchase of their first home and gained knowledge about best practices in preparing financially; navigating the home-buying process; securing pre-approval; and free grant, loan, and first-time homebuyer programs that are available.

“For many families, buying a home is a realization of the American dream – and it is essential for first-time buyers to know that there are resources available to help them make that dream a reality,” Legislator Solages said. “It was a pleasure to work with LIBOR, SONYMA and the Long Island Housing Partnership to host this informative and empowering workshop.”

“Navigating the housing market can be a daunting process, and that is why it is so important for first-time buyers to get informed, so they make the best decisions for their families,” Legislator Nuñez said. “It was truly gratifying to see people come from all over Nassau County to gain the tools and financial resources that will empower them in their journey, and I thank the experts from LIBOR, SONYMA, and the Long Island Housing Partnership for sharing their expertise with the communities we serve.”
