Legislator Cynthia Nuñez Secures $238,993 for New Valley Stream Public Works Equipment

MINEOLA, NY (June 11, 2026) — Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez announced that she has secured $238,993 in County capital funding for the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream to support the purchase of a new Caterpillar Model 930 Front Wheel Loader and related equipment.

The funding, approved through an inter-municipal agreement passed by the Nassau County Legislature, will help strengthen Valley Stream’s Department of Public Works operations, including snow removal, road maintenance, material movement, storm response, emergency response and day-to-day municipal services. The agreement states that the equipment will help keep Village and County roads open during emergencies, evacuations and other necessary travel.

“This is a direct investment in Valley Stream, and I am proud to have secured this funding for the residents I represent,” Legislator Nuñez said. “When severe weather hits or emergency crews need clear roads, our local public works teams need the right equipment to respond quickly and effectively. This front wheel loader will give Valley Stream another critical tool to keep residents safe and services moving.”

Under the agreement, Nassau County will provide the capital funds to the Incorporated Village on a reimbursement basis, while the Village will purchase, own and maintain the equipment.

“Good government means delivering resources that make a real difference on the ground,” Legislator Nuñez said. “"By equipping our workforce with the right tools, we are building a safer, more resilient Valley Stream. I am proud to deliver this investment, and I will continue working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure our community always gets the results it deserves."
