(LYNBROOK, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream) applauded the Monday, Sept. 14 enactment of a $75,000 STOP-DWI Foundation grant for the Lynbrook Police Department.
Under the contract, Lynbrook Village will receive $15,000 per year annually through 2030 to bolster checkpoints during holiday periods, with a focus on preventing roadway injuries and fatalities caused by driving while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol. The grant program is administered by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Board.
“As a parent, a former school board trustee and now a Legislator, protecting our communities and prioritizing the safety of our children has always been my focus, and the STOP-DWI Foundation does outstanding work in the pursuit of those essential priorities,” Legislator Nuñez said. “This significant investment in Lynbrook’s law enforcement professionals sends a clear message throughout our region that drunk and drugged driving will never be tolerated, and I thank the Governor’s Traffic Safety Board for making these resources available to local municipalities.”
