WHAT - Nassau County Legislators Siela A. Bynoe (D - Westbury) and Laura Schaefer (R - Westbury) will join with the Westbury Fire Department and their colleagues in government on Sunday, Oct. 30 to ceremonially rename Maple Avenue between Linden and Post Avenues “Firefighters Way.”
Approved by the Nassau County Legislature in September, renaming this portion of Maple Avenue outside the firehouse will serve as a lasting tribute to the courageous and selfless service of the men and women who have volunteered to protect Westbury for more than 125 years. The ceremony coincides with the observance of October as National Fire Prevention Month.
WHO - Legislators Bynoe and Schaefer will be joined by Westbury Fire Department members, led by Chief LaShaun Carr; Incorporated Village of Westbury Mayor Peter Cavallero; Town of North Hempstead Councilman Robert Troiano; and Westbury community members.
