[ARCHIVED] Legislative District 14 - Newsletter

Dear Resident,

I am pleased to report that the Nassau Coliseum will soon be utilized as a mass COVID-19 vaccination site. As I’ve previously conveyed, since early February, my colleagues in the Legislative Majority and I have been calling on Governor Cuomo and County Executive Curran to open a site at the Nassau Coliseum.  Included in those efforts was a petition that garnered thousands of signatures from Nassau residents, a major factor in helping to make this a reality.

The Nassau Coliseum site will allow more residents to get vaccinated, help lower our infection rate, and allow more businesses to open and continue to rebuild. The location provides plenty of space and parking to accommodate staffing and provide the necessary protocols to maintain safe social distancing.  The ability to vaccinate larger numbers is especially important as the supply of doses begins to increase in the coming weeks and months.

Nassau County is also maintaining a pre-registration list for those eligible to receive the vaccine.  For those interested in signing up, please visit: https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/vaccine.

While we still have a long way to go, we are seeing more positive signs emerge.  However, we must remain vigilant in following the recommended guidelines and with getting more of our senior population vaccinated.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any thoughts and ideas you may have with respect to the County or on any particular issue that you think I may be able to assist you with.  You may contact me at (516) 571-6214 or by email at LSchaefer@NassauCountyNY.gov .
