[ARCHIVED] Legislative District 14 Update: 5/3/22

Dear Resident,

Spring is finally in full swing and that means summer is not far behind.  With that in mind, there are several initiatives being facilitated through our Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums that I wanted to bring to your attention.

Registration is currently underway for Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program.  This year’s five-week program will run from June 27 to August 4, 2022 and has been expanded to three locations: 1) Cantiague Park in Hicksville, 2) Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach, and 3) Wantagh Park.  This is fantastic way for Nassau County residents ages 5 to 12 to enjoy a fun, safe, activity-filled summer camp experience at a reasonable cost.  The program day runs from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  Camper activities include 45 minutes per day of open pool swimming, arts & crafts, tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf, and field sports such as soccer, flag football and baseball.

The cost is $1,200 per child, with a sibling discount of $50 off for additional child(ren) in the same family.  The registration deadline is May 26th.  Registrations are being accepted online only and can be accessed by clicking here.  Additional information is available by calling 516-572-0245.

Picnic Reservations can now be made in person among 11 county parks.  A valid Nassau County Leisure pass is required along with the required fee in order to secure a permit. For a list of available parks and contact information, please click here.

Jobs are currently available for certified Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructors.  Starting salary is $18.00 per hour.  For more information on how to apply, please call 516-572-0508.

In addition to these, there are a number of other summer related programs, services and activities through our Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums that might be of interest and can be found by clicking here.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any thoughts and ideas you may have with respect to the County or on any particular issue that you think I may be able to assist you with.  You may contact me at (516) 571-6214 or by email at LSchaefer@NassauCountyNY.gov .

Sincerely,
