About Licensing
DCA licenses all persons operating residential home improvement businesses in Nassau County, as authorized by the Nassau County Administrative Code. This division provides the following services:
- Accepts and reviews all applicants for licenses and renewals.
- Responds to consumer inquiries regarding the licensing status of contractors.
- Issues Notices of Violation.
- Reviews all Suspensions, Revocations, and Reinstatements of licenses.
- Works in conjunction with the District Attorney's Commercial Frauds Bureau and other governmental agencies to enforce Local Law 6-1970 which governs residential Home Improvement businesses in Nassau County.
- Provides information to the Courts and to other jurisdictions.
- Collects and administers funds for the Home Improvement Restitution Fund.

A HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR and other LICENSE LOOKUP/SEARCH
FINGERPRINTING
- All Licensed Home Improvement Contractors must be fingerprinted.
- Fingerprinting is done at IDENTOGO, not at a police station.
- Fingerprinting receipts are not required.
RRP LEAD CERTIFICATION
- All Eyes on Safety Training RRP Lead Certificates will not be accepted. Consumer Affairs will only accept RRP Certificates issued by an EPA Accredited Training Program in accordance with 40 CFR Part 745.225.
SECOND-HAND PRECIOUS METAL AND GEM DEALERS
- Consumer Affairs is no longer issuing Second-Hand Precious Metal and Gem Dealer licenses. Please check with your local municipality for licensing requirements.
