Elderfields

Elderfields

The 4-acre Elderfields property has several buildings, including a main house that incorporates the original 17th-century home, one of the oldest structures on Long Island. There are also two carriage sheds and a walled garden. The property was left to Nassau County in 1996 by Henry deV. Williams and is being developed as an arts center with studios, a classroom and gallery, including a museum room displaying antique Long Island decorative arts. The Art Guild of Port Washington maintains space within the building, offering studio space, art classes and a regular schedule of art shows; grounds are open daily.
