(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) and Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined the Hempstead Village community on Saturday, June 28 for the Hempstead Police Department's annual Unity in the Community Terrace Block Party. The block party included bouncy attractions for kids, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, health and wellness resources for families, a DJ, and much more – including Double Dutch rope jumping (which Legislator Nicks took a turn at during the festivities).
“Each year, the Unity in the Community block party shows the world the vibrant heart of Terrace Avenue as the streets fill with families and intense community pride,” Legislator Davis said. “It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for this great summer tradition, and I thank the Hempstead Village Police Department and our colleagues for making this such a great success.”
“With school out for the summer, it’s so important to give our young people healthy and positive outlets – and the Unity in the Community Block Party is exactly that for every member of the family,” Legislator Nicks said. “What a joy it was to see so many smiling faces as our youth enjoyed a carefree evening in Hempstead Village – thank you to Hempstead PD and all of the organizers for your hard work!”
