(WESTBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) and Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined the Gift of Writing Foundation at Verdi’s Westbury on Saturday, March 21 for their 12th annual fundraising dinner-dance.
Founded by Dr. Frantz Dorsainvil, the organization aims to collect school supplies to donate to children in Haiti and provides meals for about 400 children weekly at L’Institution Mimi in Arcahaie, Haiti. The Foundation has developed additional initiatives, such as workshops for educators in Haiti, scholarship for high school students, and other resources. The evening’s honorees included:

“It is wonderful to see how Nassau County, which is home to a vibrant Haitian American community, continues to rally around the Gift of Writing Foundation and Dr. Dorsainvil’s philanthropic endeavors,” Legislator Russell said. “We are thankful to all of the honorees for embracing the Foundation’s mission and committing themselves to selfless service.”
