(EAST MEADOW and HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined the New Greater Hempstead Chamber of Commerce and an array of well-wishers at Eisenhower Park on Saturday, July 12 to celebrate the retirement of longtime high school coach Charles Gilreath. His retirement marked the culmination of a 40-year career notable for his 28 years in Freeport, 10 years in Roosevelt and two years in Hempstead schools.
“Known by so many of his students as ‘Coach G,’ Charles Gilreath left an indelible mark across generations of Nassau County athletes through his four decades of leadership and mentorship in youth sports,” Legislator Nicks said. “As he embarks upon this next chapter of his life with his wife Donna, we salute him for all he has accomplished and thank him for a job well done!”
