(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – In observance of National Health Center Week in America, Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) and Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined the leaders of Harmony Healthcare Long Island and their colleagues in government on Tuesday, Aug. 5 to celebrate the grand opening of its Care Coordination Boutique in Hempstead. The facility, which is an outgrowth of Harmony’s Care Coordination program, will provide patients with access to a food pantry, free clothing, toys, diapers, and small household items at no cost to the patient.
“Ensuring that every Nassau County resident has unfettered access to nutritious food and daily essentials is one of the most powerful things we can do strengthen public health and uplift individuals and families in their time of need,” Legislator Davis said. “At a time when federal cuts to safety net programs are looming ominously, Harmony Health’s new initiative will fulfill a vital need in communities across Nassau County.
“Food insecurity and economic hardship are not just humanitarian issues – they are public health crises that impact families all across Nassau County,” Legislator Nicks said. “Harmony Health’s highly commendable commitment to holistic care is evident in this issue, and I thank them for stepping up to meet a critical need in our society.”
