The honorees included Avi Posnick, Northeast Regional Director for StandWithUs, Karl Riesterer, owner of West Hempstead’s Riesterer’s Bakery, Amy Wong, proprietor of West Hempstead’s Wing Wan kosher Chinese restaurant, Shia Rosenbaum and Aaron Sacks, of Island Assisted Living, and Larry Rosenberg, of Congregation Shaaray Shalom’s Holocaust Remembrance Committee.
“Every May, we celebrate the tremendous contributions of Jewish Americans and their allies and how they enrich our lives through their educational, cultural and business endeavors,” Legislator Nicks said. “As the representative of some of Nassau County’s most vibrant and fastest-growing Jewish communities, I recognize how their efforts help to create a more accepting society in which our diversity enriches us all, and it was a true privilege to bring our community together in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month.”
