WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) is joining forces with the Uniondale Fire Department, the Nassau County Police Department, and an array of community stakeholders to host National Night Out at the John J. Byrne Community Center on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August as a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing police and residents together in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
“Across America, National Night Out is a highly anticipated community gathering that strengthens bonds and build partnerships that keep us safe all year long,” Legislator Nicks said. “As a Uniondale native, I am thrilled that we are bringing this celebration to the John J. Byrne Community Center, and I thank Uniondale FD, the Nassau county Police Department and all of our sponsors for helping us create an event that has something for everyone to enjoy!”
