(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined forces with the Uniondale Fire Department, the Nassau County Police Department, Chick-Fil-A, and an array of community stakeholders to host National Night Out at the John J. Byrne Community Center on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August as a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing police and residents together in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
“Organizing the first National Night Out celebration at the John J. Byrne Community Center was truly a privilege, and I was thrilled that the community responded so enthusiastically to the latest chapter of a great tradition that celebrates and strengthens vital bonds with law enforcement,” Legislator Nicks said. “Thank you to the Nassau County Police Department, the Uniondale Fire Department, Chick-Fil-A, Nassau DPW, and all of the vendors and organizations who worked with my office to make this a night to remember!”
